誠に遺憾ですが、2019年に東京でのパラクライミングの世界選手権を目指してきた選手をはじめとする関係者の皆さんを落胆させる事実をお知らせしなければなりません。
2019年3月16日にIFSC総会が東京で行われました。JMSCAは8月に行われる世界選手権についてプレゼンテーションを行い、5ヶ月後に迫る世界選手権についての進捗状況などを説明しました。その中でJMSCAが世界選手権を開催する上で日程的な問題点に直面していることを説明しました。
2019年はオリンピック前年ということで、様々な競技のスポーツ団体が国際大会やスポーツイベントを行うため、世界選手権の会場探しに大変苦労をしました。そのような状況の中、唯一実現可能な会場として、大変ありがたいことに八王子市から世界選手権の開催が可能な会場の提案をいただきました。
しかしながら、2019年の世界選手権は、特にコンバインドにおいてオリンピックフォーマットの踏襲を求められ、例年よりも更に日程を要することになり、会場使用の関係でパラクライミングを含めた全てのカテゴリーを開催することが極めて困難な状況でした。JMSCAとしても、関係各所と相談しながら、様々な試みを検討し、打開策を探りましたが、現状において、初めて行われるオリンピック予選として位置づけられる世界選手権の開催自体もが危ぶまれるほどにリスクが高まっていました。
そこでJMSCAはIFSC役員と相談しPara-climbing World ChampionshipとWorld Championshipを分離して開催する苦渋の決断をせざるを得ませんでした。IFSC総会で、JMSCAの上記決断を提案したところ、様々な意見が交わされましたが、最終的にはJMSCAの提案が受け入れられ、2019年のPara-Climbing World ChampionshipとWorld Championshipが別々の日程と会場で開催されることとなりました。そして幸いにも、フランスの協会であるFFMEから７月にブリアンソンで開催の提案を受け、JMSCAとしてはこの提案をありがたく受け止め、現在その方向で進めております。
この度は、世界選手権を同じ八王子で行うという世界各国のクライマー、パラクライマー皆様の夢や希望にお応えすることが出来ずに大変申し訳ない気持ちです。
そして、FFMEならびに IFSCにも大きな感謝の意を述べさせて頂きます。

Para-Climbing World Championship 2019
It is deeply regrettable that JMSCA has to inform all the persons aiming for the Para-Climbing World Championship in 2019 in Tokyo including the players of disappointing fact.
IFSC Plenary Assembly was held on March 16, 2019. JMSCA had a presentation regarding the World Championship in August, and explained the current status of the World Championship just five months away. In this presentation, JMSCA explained that it faced to the problem regarding schedule of the World Championship.
JMSCA had a lot of trouble to find the venue of the World Championship because many other sports organizations plan to hold international games and events in 2019, the preceding year of the Olympic. Regardless of such situation, thankfully, Hachioji-shi offered a venue for the World Championship which is only feasible.
However, JMSCA is asked to follow the Olympic format especially regarding the combined, and the World Championship will need longer schedule than the past. It was very difficult to hold all the categories including the para-climbing in relation to availability of the venue. Though JMSCA has had a talk with persons involved and tried to find the solution, it was the difficult situation with high risk such that World Championship itself, which is the first Olympic qualifying event so far, was in danger of not being able to hold.
As such, JMSCA had a talk with IFSC board members, and had to make a painful decision that Para-climbing World Championship and World Championship will be held separately. JMSCA suggested the decision above in IFSC Plenary Assembly, and this suggestion by JMSCA was finally accepted after the discussion. It was thus decided that Para-climbing World Championship and World Championship will be held in separate venues in separate schedules. Fortunately, FFME in France made an offer to hold the Para-climbing World Championship in Briancon. JMSCA has accepted this offer graciously, and JMSCA is proceeding in accordance with this offer now.
JMSCA feels very sorry for not being able to meet dreams and wishes by all the climbers including para-climbers all over the world that Para-climbing World Championship and World Championship will be held in the same venue at Hachioji.
